Measuring Principle Of The COD sensor

 

Chemical oxygen demand is a test that measures the amount of oxygen required to chemically oxidize organic substances present in water.

 

Many organic substances dissolved in water absorb ultraviolet rays, and the electromagnetic spectrum ranges from 200 to 390 nm. The simplest form of measurement using this principle is the Spectral Absorption Coefficient (SAC), which can measure the absorption of light at a specific wavelength. Traditionally, a wavelength of 254nm is used because it is located in an area sensitive to organic absorption.

 

Therefore, by measuring the degree of absorption of ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 254 nm by organic substances, the substitution of organic substances in water can be detected.

 

The chemical oxygen demand(COD) sensor can be used in a wide range of applications.
