When the content of ammonia nitrogen is high, it is toxic to fish and harms the human body to varying degrees. The source of ammonia nitrogen in water is mainly the product of the decomposition of nitrogenous organic matter in domestic sewage by the action of microorganisms, certain industrial wastewater, and farmland drainage. Therefore, the amount of ammonia nitrogen in water has an important impact on humans. The determination of various forms of nitrogen compounds in water helps to evaluate the degree of pollution and the degree of "self-purification" in water bodies.
