Correct installation and routine maintenance are what keep a pH sensor accurate over years of service. This guide walks through best practice for the Daruifuno DPH790 digital pH sensor, an IP68 electrode with 1″ NPT mounting and RS485 Modbus output.
The DPH790 is a compact φ35 mm × 220 mm PPS sensor weighing about 200 g, with 1″ NPT threads at both ends for direct mounting into pipes, tanks, brackets or flow cells. To ensure safe, accurate measurement:
Wiring is simple: red is power positive (V+), black is power negative (V−), white is RS485 A(+) and green is RS485 B(−). The aviation-plug version requires no user wiring.
| Wire | Function | Symbol |
|---|---|---|
| Red | Power positive | V+ |
| Black | Power negative | V− |
| White | RS485 data A (+) | AS |
| Green | RS485 data B (−) | BS |
The sensor uses RS485 Modbus RTU with a default slave address of 9. The pH value is read from register address 2 and temperature from address 4. The address, baud rate, parity and stop bit can all be changed over Modbus.
| Task | Frequency |
|---|---|
| Visual inspection | Monthly |
| Check calibration | Monthly (per conditions) |
| Replace pH sensor | Yearly (per conditions) |
| Seal maintenance | Every two years |
If the electrode cannot communicate, check the wiring and the communication parameters (address, baud rate, parity, stop bit). If the measured value is abnormal, clean the bulb, check for damage, restore factory calibration and recalibrate with standard buffers, and check the electrode service life.
The DPH790 supports zero and slope calibration using standard solutions at 4.01, 6.86 and 9.18 pH. Calibration points, the zero value and both slopes are stored inside the sensor and can be adjusted over Modbus, while a restore command returns the settings to factory defaults without resetting the communication parameters. Because calibration values live in the sensor itself, a replacement electrode can be commissioned quickly.
